Tribal Community Woman Draupadi Murmu has been declared the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming presidential election 2022.
PM Modi tweeted on NDA presidential candidate Draupathi Murmu that she will become a great President of the country. Earlier, the opposition had finalized the name of former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Twitter: “Mrs Draupadi Murmu Ji has dedicated his life to serving the society and empowering the poor, downtrodden and oppressed. She has competent management experience and has served as an outstanding governor. I hope She will be the best president in our country. ”
Party President JP Nadda announced his candidature on Tuesday after a meeting of the BJP’s highest policy-making body, the Parliamentary Board. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and other members of the Parliamentary Board attended the Parliamentary Board meeting.
Former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha has been fielded as a joint candidate by the opposition parties for the presidential election. The term of the current President Ram Nath Kovind ends on July 24. After the announcement of Sinha’s name as the opposition candidate, voting for the next President’s election is now set to be held on July 18. The process of filling nomination papers for the Presidential election is underway. June 29 is the last date for filing nominations.
Draupadi Murmu is the first Tribal President of India and the second woman President of the Republic if elected President.

64 years old Draupathi Murmu has been the first woman Governor of Jharkhand. Murmu, who is called a tribal leader, hails from Odisha and has been a minister in the BJD government. Draupadi Murmu Profile
Born on June 20, 1958, Tirupati Murmu served as the Governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021.
Murmu hails from Mayurbhanj district of Orissa and hails from a tribal community. Murmu started as a teacher and later entered Odisha politics.
She has held several important positions within the party during his political career. He began his political career in 1997 by succeeding as Councilor and becoming Vice-President of Rairangpur, Orissa.
Draupadi Murmu was the Minister of State for Fisheries and Animal Resource Development from August 6, 2002 to May, with independent charge for commerce and transport from 2000–2002 during the BJP and Biju Janata Dal coalition government in Odisha.
In 2000 and 2004, she was a former minister of Odisha and MLA from the Rairangpur assembly constituency.
She was a two-time BJP MLA from Mayurbhanj (2000 and 2009) from Rairangpur.
Murmu was also a member of the National Executive Committee of the BJP’s SD Morcha from 2013 to 2015.
That same year, She was elected state vice-president of the BJP’s SD Morcha.
Murmu has held various ministries in Odisha such as transport and trade. She has also worked in various fields such as fisheries and animal husbandry.
